#1, The Thurman Cafe

The opposite of Meat Free Monday...I can haz cheezeburger. Columbus Top 100's Number ONE: The Thurman Cafe!

On Monday after my first volleyball game in 10 years (lets not talk about it) husband took me to Thurman's for dinner. According to the Columbus Top 100 list Thurman's is Numero Uno. It's gained a lot of notoriety lately having been featured on food network and several other publications. I have mixed feelings about this because it now takes about an hour to get a table...on a Monday night at 8:30pm.

Because it's in German Village, I like to think of it as a local place. Because I think of it as a local GV spot, I find myself increasingly annoyed when I can't just walk in and get a table. On the other hand, I realize how silly that sounds and I'm thrilled to see any of our fabulous local restaurants or businesses thriving. I've eaten there many a time so I knew it would be worth the wait. Plus, we found a way to entertain ourselves while waiting, hooray for Sam Adam's Summer Ale:

Mike had the Mushroom Burger without "all the fixins" which means the tomato, onion, lettuce etc.

 That monstrous thing you see me attempting to take a bite of was the Rad Shroom burger which is mushrooms and a horseradish cheese.

It does have "all the fixins," which is why it looks huge. This is no frozen patty...it was delicious and cooked to perfection, they remembered my request of no mayo, my water glass stayed full the whole time and the service was excellent. Do yourself a favor and visit Thurman's sometime soon.

Ps. Also try the Jalapeno poppers. Yum.
